The all-day changing fashion has given a lot to different cultures of the world. Among them, comes the biggest new day evolution, the hip hop cultures, the fashion that has the interest of the new generation. The easy to go style is influencing the folks in a great number. Get a baggy t-shirt and you are killing the street look. But the hip hop fashion or culture has much more than just baggy clothes.
.
The evolution of hip-hop has developed from a self-conscious rumination of words and music to an obstinate expression of contemporary urban life through corporal gestures and apparel. The evolution has brought about a big change in the day to day wear of people especially the youth.
.
Multi-coloured appliqué leather jackets, sheepskin coats, car coats, straight leg corduroy or denim jeans, hooded sweatshirts, athletic warm-up pants, mock turtlenecks, and sneakers and caps. Less functional items included designer jeans, gold jewellery, Kangol caps, Pumas with fat laces, basketball shoes, and oversized spectacles.
.
True street wear :
.
The street hip hop wear includes a pair of sneakers, baggy clothes and ‘I don’t give a damn’ attitude basically. The people preferring this kind of style are often seen to have a great change in their lives and come out in the society just as they are. Original. Streetwear’s relevance and relationship with culture may be more obvious and clear now.
.
Streetwear may have come of age outside the framework of the luxury fashion industry but soon enough it got co-opted by it. Streetwear – a preserve of outsiders, artists, those weird kids at school became luxury streetwear, just another fashion style, a worldwide costume for an age of Instagram-flattened taste which is really the crux of this whole global movement, what streetwear has enabled for a generation of designers with something to say, but who are maybe not professionally trained. There’s a beautiful democratic openness to it all. You can start a label if you want to. The barriers to creation don’t exist anymore.
.
Perhaps the most characteristic aspect of streetwear, and an aspect that high fashion brands are now attempting to emulate, is the model of the “drop.” Streetwear brands will release a limited collection of items with little to no notice, and people will wait in line for hour sometimes overnight to get their hands on the products.
.
Designers and producers :
.
Designers of active sportswear and sports shoes did not target the streets, nightclubs, or music videos as the primary location for their products. Brands like Adidas, Reebok, Nike, and British Knights had been appropriated by hip-hop and became precursors to the dedicated fashion sportswear hip-hop brands of Troop, Cross Colors, Mecca, Walker Wear, and Karl Kani. However, apparel companies have never surpassed the dominance of the sportswear shoe brand.
.
The hip hop collections of many producers have been able to attract people by involving rappers and singers of this genre as the brand ambassadors. It has contributed so much of money to the designers of this brands that these has become one of the leading brands in the fashion industry.
.
Rap culture :
.
The culture that seems to connect with the world in the fastest way.a song with a rap comes out and the whole nation shouts out the lyrics and the fashion in the loudest of their voices. Rappers appear, as poets, have always been good reflection of the heart of community. They take ideas out of the community and spread them to the rest of the world.
.
Sometimes it’s stuff that’s positive in the community that gets spread, and sometimes it’s stuff that’s in the community that’s not so positive but so what? They don’t owe anybody anything! In just forty-five short years, sneaker culture birthed a menswear movement that offered men options and opportunities to create a representation of themselves.
.
Thriving designers that now cater to their new “yummy” market undoubtedly owe much to the athletes and rappers who paved the way before them with sneakers.
.
Hip-hop fashion is regarded as a delineator of “cool”. Indeed aspects of hip-hop have become the characterization of dissonance; that is why British royal princes William and Harry were happy to adopt homeboy gestures while wearing baseball caps. Probably having never met a real live B-boy, cool gesturing postures are no doubt gleaned from music videos.
.
From within the postindustrial environment, hiphop has emerged as an articulation of an affirmative “otherness,” which is at times unpopular and misunderstood by politically conservative and socially moralistic groups, and especially by those who regard the modernist, anti-pluralist perspective to be sacrosanct.
.
The hip hop culture is basically influenced from the widely spreading music. The music is aggressive in its lyrics and sound, using 808 kick drums and heavy extended sub-bass lines, as well as double-time or triple-time hi-hats, layered synthesizers, and a cinematic orchestra of strings. The power of subculture to fashion can be seen clearly skateboard culture from the 70s to present day.It can be difficult to distinguish certain styles as subcultures because they are quickly (predominantly clothing and music) adopted by mass culture.
.
In the early to mid-90s the sound expanded and we were hit with the distinct vibe between the east and west coasts. The style stayed street as we saw baggy silhouettes, heavy gold chains, paired with Timbs on the east coast and Chuck Taylor’s on the west! This style created a wave of some of our favourite artists crossing over into fashion creating brands like: Phat Farm, Baby Phat, Rocawear, Sean John … you know the rest.
.
Hip hop fashion is outgrowing largely worldwide and because of globalization it is influencing people more than any other trend. Such is the power of the culture and love of the people for it, for something that makes them fearless.
