Watch in style: Titan launches an exclusive designer collection by Masaba Gupta
Looks like Masaba Gupta is on a roll! This year she is wooing fashion enthusiasts with a string of collaborations.
We already witnessed the dream collaboration between designer and Lakme and now she has partnered with the distinguished watch brand, Titan! Now this is a collaboration that we can’t get enough of! In addition to being a synthesis between pop art with tribal art, the designs are inspired by the decadent architecture. Like always Masaba Gupta transforms the otherwise conventional watches into conversation-starter and statement timepieces by imbuing her quintessential and eccentric school of style!
This limited capsule edition has well thought out names that had me at go from the first sight! Curious? Then keep on reading.
- Swaying Fishes – If the name is so beautiful, then imagine how beautiful the watch has turned out! Classic meets quirky, this Titan Raga analogue watch has fish conch charms attached to it! Now how delightful is that? A mesh like metal strap completed with an octagonal dial, this one is perfection personified for the contemporary bride who loves to keep it riveting all the time.
- Tribal Hug – All this while we have heard about give wings to your imagination and here we have the maverick designer taking it to a different altitude! This game-changer watch appears like a mating between watch and bracelet and the result — A tribal art brass watch that can pose a tough condition to your jewelleries! There’s a cute charm with Masaba monogram emblazoned on it whereas the lotus motif on the silver dial adds the perfect finishing touch. Love these detailing!
- Wanderer Elephant – My vote goes out for this one from the lot as it reflects my personal style of unapologetically feminine! This elephant linked strap with mother of pearl dial is that one watch which if you own you probably wouldn’t need any other watch. The rug of the elephant is crafted with pink lotus and the eyes of the elephant have pink enamel filling. - Whimsical Tail – What a lovely name! This Rose gold fish shaped watch has to be the most minimalistic in this entire collection. The strap is actually a kada with fin-shaped ends which is a welcome departure from the regular strap style watches. The round Mother of Pearl dial embossed with swaying fish on both sides is a visual splendour. So pretty!
My verdict: I love the entire collection beginning from the name to the quintessential Masaba designs to the compelling detailing. I also felt that this exclusive edition has strong bohemian accent which will definitely work well for the free spirit and edgy women of today. However there could have been more designs in this collection.
