Summer 2017 is just around the corner and we are ready to welcome it with a big bang this year. No more lazing around and just sitting in the A/C to escape the heat, it’s time to stun the sun this season. We know that the temperatures are soaring up by the day, but we have the perfect solution for you to sit out and enjoy the heat – Canopies! Canopies are an all season essential as they protect one from sun, rain and dust equally.
Canopies now have an altogether different dimension added to them and it’s just breath-taking! How about your own sun/moon patio? Make a canopy of glass and enthrall in the beauty of the sky through all the seasons this year. Plan a romantic date night under the blanket of stars, have a K2H2 moment of monsoon magic, get yourself a tan or have a winter camping experience at night.
How would you like a little luxury living? Imagine an ornamented canopy which filters in light in you desired shape and creates a game of shadows on your patio? Let the heat get absorbed without getting tanned at the same time. Select a shadow patch and slurp your summer drinks. Here is a refreshing melon summer drink recipe as you sit back and relax.
Timber it down : Wood is a complete essential when it comes to interiors, so why can’t it be for the exteriors? Walking under a wooden finned canopy would surely make it feel like your home is a new 5 star hotel. The delicate wooden fins flushed with the columns provide the best canopy experience possible, and the best part is that they are maintenance free and weather proof! I say, bring it on woodcutter.
Stretch it out: Tensile structures are now seen across the globe. From Olympic stadium to tents and stations, tensile is common now! So, why not add that to your driver way and enjoy basking in the sun under an architectural element that is still trending and be a part of the # home goals league?
Green soul: How about sitting under a canopy of foliage to make you feel like a Disney book princess? Or the feeling of being a part of the forest while sitting at your house? Put in a canopy of deciduous leaves, which will use up the sunlight in the summers to grow and shed their leaves in the winter to let you feel the chill. A metal grid and some climbers are all you need for a green foliage canopy.
Sci fi canopies: Made out of plastic and tensile cloth, these canopies will make you feel like you are a part of some scifi movie. These canopies are weather and mosquito resistant, hence go for a long way and make you feel as if you are decades ahead in time. Time to order your time machine … oops, your canopy.
Tents: This is a child’s favourite form of a canopy, but here let’s use it on the patio. Accentuate your patio with beautiful tents and have your kids call their friends to have a slumber tent camp! You could also use it to decorate your house according to the season in line.
Patios: An external space similar to the balcony, usually in front of the house where the visitors first arrive. Our range and idea of patios not only lie in front of the house but are also found in the backyard. This summer we have a list of reasons why you need to add a patio if you don’t have one or also the best ways to use your existing patio:
1. Have a summer party
Why not invite your friends over and have a summer party in the evening? Beat the heat with traditional Indian coolers like nimbu pani or a more gourmet range like an cranberry iced tea. Do check out this twist to you refreshing lemon drink! Also fill your stomach up with some chaat as you enjoy the spring and summer 2017.
2. Barbecue
it’s time to get roasting this season. Invite your close ones and enjoy a barbecue evening on your patio. Pop open the wine and relish the summer evening with smoking hot chicken.
3. Conversation pits
This one is my favourite. I just love the idea of converting the patio into a conversation pit by throwing in a few cushions. Call up your friends and gossip the evening away. You could even have a bonfire session come autumn to enjoy the pit .
Tell us which of the canopies or patio you are planning to put up next , and we will give you ideas from our inhouse interior designers. Also share your green canopy story with #greensoul and get featured in our upcoming #greensoul section!
