Each year Cannes generates a buzz not just for its spectrum of movies, but also for the cornucopia of fashion inspirations of the fashion enthusiasts and influencers of the world. For years now, Bollywood’s resident fashion high-priestess, Sonam Kapoor at Cannes 2017 has catapulted Indian fashion to the global pedestal. Her avant-garde sense of style and the dramatic twist that she infuses in her every outfit has made the Kapoor girl a favourite with the fashion magazines.

Basking in the glory of her affordable luxury fashion label ‘Rheson’ Bollywood’s ‘it girl’ ensured that her undisputed fashion reign remains the talking point this time too! Be it her ‘nathni’ look, the cape-sari look or the Elie Saab controversial feather trail gown, this L’oreal brand Ambassador has never failed to hog all the limelight on the Cannes Red Carpet. To her succour, she always had the support of her friend, distinguished fashion designer and pride of Kolkata, Anamika Khanna. On the first day of landing in the French Riviera, she was spotted in an easy-breezy travel–compatible look in a dapper ‘Rheson’ white crop top and Ellery trousers.

LOOK 1: Cannes witnessed the serene-meets-quaint vibes of the diva as she channeled a crop top coordinated with a water spray print sari draped in an unconventional style which is oh-so Sonam Kapoor at Cannes 2017. Sassy finger rings and an IWC watch concluded her look.

LOOK 2: She dazzled her way to stardom in a rose-gold Elie Saab custom-made gown that stood out for its floor-length sleeves and sheer texture. The scintillating pink number was cinched at the waist and had sexy plunging necklines. Adding a desi touch to the look was her decadent diamond danglers from Kalyan Jewellers. The make-up was done to perfection by her ever-reliable make-up artist, Namrata Soni, using Tint caresses Rose blossom + peach blossom, True Match Lumi liquid a higher rose, La palette gold and Lumi Powder rose. To maintain the flair of the dreamy romantic look, hair stylist Stephen Lancien created a wispy hairdo epitomized with a centre-partition and soft loose curls.

LOOK 3: She upped the glam quotient by weaving in a bohemian drama to her sartorial aesthetics. Rooting for a custom-made Anamika Khanna yellow palazzo and a bralette-style blouse adorned with delicate floral embroidery blouse layered with a red floor-length flared cape and red turban, she once again proved to the world why she is the queen of fashion! Complementing her yellow outfit were her danglers from Apala by Sumit. Giving company to her dramatic boho-chic look was her make-up which was anything but resplendent- Infallible Le Rouge 138 Forver Fuschia for the lips, True Match Lumi Highter Powder in Rose for the face, Blend Tint Caresse Orchid Blossom and peach blossom with Silkissime Bold Bleu and Volume million waterproof mascara for the eyes.

LOOK 4: This look certainly was inspired from the free spirit of the birds. Garbed in a flowy Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla couture that concluded in a long trail which was swept up by the sea breeze during the photoshoot. She teamed up the plunging neckline number with an aquamarine netted long kaftan and accessorized the look with a turquoise pendant necklace and twirly earrings by Noor Fares Jewels. Sonam Kapoor at Cannes 2017 was a vision in white! Absolutely ethereal!

LOOK 5: Keeping her fifth look fresh and minty, Ms. Kapoor donned a Masaba Gupta mint green ensemble. The unique ensemble was a confluence of the contemporary and desi – oversized draped pallu and culotte-style pants. Exuding demure yet sharp vibes, she polished off her look with Suhani Pittie rose gold-leaf danglers, IWC Schaffsausen watch, a milkmaid braid and silver jootis. Crushing over her Color Riche Moist Mat Blaze of Red was indeed a smart move to dazzle up the pastel theme overall!

LOOK 6: As the saying goes “save the best for the last”. Sonam dazzled in her final look with yet another magnificent creation by the Israeli fashion designer Elie Saab. This time it was a shimmer gold metallic gown in bustier style. Her bold and metallic make-up did justice to the quiddity of the look – Tint Caresse Sakura Blossom for lips, Truematch Lumi Highter Powder in gold, La Palette Gold, Superliner Black Lacquer, Volume Mascara and Kajal magique bold for eyes. She was the definition of a ravishing showstopper!

After seeing Sonam Kapoor at Cannes 2017, I am already waiting impatiently to see her at Cannes 2018!!!
