It’s time to bid adieu to the winters along with the unexpected rain showers and welcome (albeit a bit reluctantly) the summers. Though some of us may be glad to get rid of the cold and the dryness, others are dreading the temperature and the heat shocks it’s going to give our skin especially in the tanning department and oily pimply face. Gosh! Just writing about it is making me feel depressed, but hey all hope is not lost if we act on time. So let’s look into our pre summer skin care regiment and hopefully we shall be spared from the worst.
Just follow these quick tips to avoid getting tanned and have an oil-free face!
- Sunscreen is your best friend!
Always apply sunscreen when stepping out in the sun. Carry it in your purse and always reapply after 2 hours and after a face wash. A sunscreen will help your skin fight the heat and the sun burn. If you are using any particular sunscreen, stick to it or there are many skin hydration products available from good companies like Neutrogena, Lotus, Lacto Calamine etc. For daily use make sure it is SPF 15, for prolonged sun exposure, use a water resistant SPF 30 formula and for oily screen look for oil free sunscreen.
- Avoid Air Pollution!
Firstly the heat, stickiness and on top of it polluted air. With the smoke and dust in the air, it’s just not our breathing which goes for a toss but also our skin. The dusty air opens the pore of the skin and clogs them with dirt which results in several problems like pimples, allergies and pre-aging. When stepping out, especially on two-wheelers, don’t forget to wear a scarf or a duppata on your face which will not only protect you from getting tanned but will also help in protecting your skin from the muck and the grim. Also, apply a good moisturizer which can help as a barrier between the skin and the pollutants. And most importantly, once back home remember to cleanse your skin properly with a face wash and apply some rose water or multani mitti for a cooling effect.
- Diet & Lifestyle!
Everybody knows what to avoid in summers but do we really follow it? Say no to buttery, oily food and yes to salads, juices and other detox drinks like lemonade, green tea etc., which will help in keeping your body and skin cool and the high nourishing value will provide you a healthy glowing skin. Try avoiding caffeine, cigarette, colas and packaged food. Exercise should be mandatory especially in the morning and preferably outdoors for atleast 20-30 minutes. It not only improves the circulation of the blood but also ensures that our vital organs get enough oxygen. Have a good night sleep of minimum 6 hours and avoid reading in dark or less lights to prevent those big black dark circles around our eyes.
Last, but not the least, drink lots of water (atleast 2 to 3 liters a day) which helps in eliminating toxins and keeps our digestive system strong. It also helps in preventing dehydration by balancing the water content in our body.
