Pitter patter, pitter patter, Splash some water or float paper boats in the puddles. With the onset of monsoon, mommies are you all set to roast some corn and fry some bhajiya? But, before you do that, sit back with a simmering hot cup of tea and read about how you can save your house from monsoon menace and create some monsoon magic, as it is time to refresh your space!
Its up to you to decide how you want your monsoon 2016 to be. How about a monsoon with beautiful gray skies or romantic rainy nights where you curl up with your loved ones? And when it’s not all that, monsoons are known to pester you with grievances like dirt marks on the floors, water dripping in from nooks and corners or a scourge of mosquitoes!
Its time to choose the right monsoon-cation to have fun!
Step on the Mat!
Remove your mats from the porches! Its time to welcome the monsoon!
This monsoon pack the rugs in your room away to save them from the moisture! Instead Place beautiful coir mats on the porch instead and welcome your guests without having to think, OH NO gande joote! Coir mats are cheap, easily available and camouflage the dirt! A total savior. Let this years porch mantra be – Rain, rain come again!
Wet gear!
Wet gear sounds cool doesn’t it? But, does cleaning the mess caused by the wet-gear sound familiar? I am sure that it does. THe best way to reduce the hassle caused by them is to make a separate corner where your family members can open their wet gear or simply store them! If you stay in a bunglow the front porch is the solution and if its an apartment, somewhere near the main door is ideal. However do not let the water seep into the neighbouring aunty’s side or that would be the end of the magic!
Stacking a few plastic sheets is a better alternative ! Ask your loved ones to open up their wet gar there and throw away the water collected on them! Easy peasy right?
Colour me monsoon!
The gray skies look nice for a short period of time after which it doest seem romantic at all. Why not let the gray skies be and colour up your room? That is always an option! Change your curtains to more colourful ones and swap your cushion and bed covers for ones with splashes of colour which will brighten up your mood and make you forget the feel of the gloomy skies!
Light them up!
The dark clouds which cover up the skies and the gloomy weather can make the enviorntment depressing. So, now is the time to light up your world! By lights we don’t mean tube lights or bulbs, but lampshades, chandeliers and candles. Scented candles are great to keep your home fragrant and fresh. Candles and lampshades are sure going to heat up the environment. If you know what we mean!
