“Everyday is a fashion show and the world is the Runway” – Coco Chanel
How many of you have been fans of Maria Sharapova or the Williams sisters? Well I have always admired their mastery over the game and more so the striking personal style they bring into the court. It is no doubt they have volleyed fans with both their sport as well as their sartorial sensibilities. If you have been into Tennis then would know what I am insinuating at!
With the Olympics 2016 coming to a close, it is time to keep the spirit of sport alive with the sporty chic look! Sporty chic is the unique marriage between sporty comfort and the edginess of fashion. It is for the woman on the go. A woman who would love to make a statement without falling into the trap of being too dressy, a woman who would keep the comfort level high and yet vow to make a nonchalant mark of her style wherever she steps foot and finally it is for the woman who is confident enough to pull off trainers with a fitted skirt and wear her attitude to perfection. If you can relate yourself to all these above then voila you are geared up to own the street and places with the sporty chic look.
It was Stella McCartney’s S/S 2013 show that boasted of neoprene, technical fabrics; zip detailing and track pants that arrested the attention of the fashion squad. The world was finally ready to arduously embrace the fuss-free wonder of fashion minimalism and traverse towards more casual and pragmatic style files.
Below I am providing few inspirations for the beginners who aim to clean bowl the world with their sporty vibes:
LOOK 1: This is a pretty simple look and if you workout then this was one is tailor-made for you. Team up a basic white tee or a racerback with a pair of contrasting tracks preferably with bold zipper detailing. Don’t forget to layer up the white tee with a fiery red jacket. Slip into turquoise blue sneakers. Carry a jazzy sipper from Chumbak and let it be a functional accessory!
LOOK 2: This look is an experimental version and a personal favourite. All you need are cropped denim trousers and a side-slit maxi top in the shades of tan or honey. White trainers, barely there make-up and hair tied into a neat tuft and you are ready to hit the boundary in the next GDO and how! If you have multiple ear piercings then don’t leave them bare and let the drama take over, obviously in the minimalist chic way.
LOOK 3: Slip into slouchy pants and pair it up with a cartoon graphic T-Shirt. Accessorize with colour block reflectors from Ray Ban or Propshop24, brogues and a printed backpack and own the casual-cool look like no one else. Switch to this look if you are planning to travel and if you don’t feel like dressing up!
LOOK 4: Well sweatshirts are no more about being bleh training outfits. It has become a must-have wardrobe piece in the lives of stylistas. How about coupling an owl monogrammed midnight blue sweatshirt with colour-coordinated shorts and coral sneakers for the happy feet. A Samsung gear S2 promises to be a smart accessory to complete the look. P.S. If you want to bring in a little bit of sparkle then instead of coral sneakers you may go for metallic shoes in gold or silver!
LOOK 5: This look is more on the dressier side and hence perfect for a date. Go for fitted nautical-striped crop top and layer it with tan suspender skirt or denim dungarees. Dress up your feet either with sneakers or oxfords or booties and if you don’t want to leave your hands naked then opt for a bold bracelet.
Although sporty chic is not my eternal style biography, during winters I really love to don the sporty look.
