How Bollywood Divas Sizzled At IIFA 2016

Spain got a feel of Bollywood‘s hues this year as the green carpet (yes, green – not red) for the International Indian Film Academy Awards 2016 was rolled out at Madrid. The who’s who of the Bollywood film industry assembled to celebrate the best and the brightest among them for the year of 2015. IIFA 2016 saw celebrities making stunning fashion statements as they made appearances at the gala in their stylish best. Unlike the award functions of yesteryears, IIFA 2016 was truly about international trends this time as celebrities adorned themselves in their most remarkable western wear and gave the usual collecting-awards-draped-in-a-sari a miss. It was truly a fashion spectacle with all the glitz and drama, the hits and the misses.

⦁ The star of the night was none other than Deepika Padukone. Winner of the IIFA Best Actress for the movie ‘Piku’, Padukone looked like a goddess in her Sabyasachi evening gown. The gown had a Godet skirt and a cape inspired by the Spanish bull-fighters. She finished her look with dark, smoky eyes and an emerald neckpiece.

⦁ Shilpa Shetty sizzled in a custom-made white gown from Shantanu & Nikhil. It’s sweetheart neckline and cut out style did total justice to her fantastic figure.

⦁ Athiya Shetty looked a total damsel in her Rayane Bacha pastel train jumpsuit. With berry lips, matching clutch and neutral sandals perfectly complementing her pretty-in-pastel look she was bang-on trend.

⦁ Priyanka Chopra looked surreal in her nude chiffon Romanesque-evening gown by Schiaparelli couture that she adorned for the night while receiving the IIFA Best Actress in a Supporting Role Award.

⦁ Divya Khosla Kumar dazzled on the green carpet in a Manish Malhotra sequined fusion wear creation.

⦁ Sayani Gupta looked the epitome of fashion in a single shouldered Gaurav Gupta gown, which looked like a sari on first glance. The dramatic lace bodice combined with Sayani’s beautiful smile ensured that all eyes were glued to her.

⦁ Nargis Fakhri looked fierce in a bold icy blue Namrata Joshipura pantsuit that had gold flame detailing at the cuffs. Fire and Ice anyone?

⦁ Aditi Rao Hyadri painted a perfect picture in her off-shoulder shimmery powder blue gown. She looked like a modern-day Cinderella in this Saiid Kobeisy creation.

⦁ In a sea of evening gowns and jumpsuits, Bipasha Basu opted to go the ethnic way in a gorgeous pale pink Sabyasachi sari that positively made her glow.

⦁ Sonakshi Sinha had her princess moment at the IIFA this year. Clad in cream Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla fit and flare, midi length gown, she looked like a million bucks. A sleek bun and red lips complemented the sheer neckline and the flow of the whole ensemble perfectly.
