Fashion Trend: Plaid Joins The Fashion Party!

Spring Summer 2016 has brought a lot of evergreen trends to the forefront once again and plaid is one them. It is not acknowledged as a trend anymore as it has become more of a wardrobe staple these days. If you don’t have atleast one plaid piece in your closet, then your wardrobe is not complete or up-to-date with the fashion scene. But don’t mistaken this plaid for the ones of yore. This season it is bold and daring. It has taken a creative turn that is at once unexpected and adventurous.

If you are thinking that you can take out your old plaid shirts to keep up with this trend, you are mistaken. Plaid this year is more blown-out and expanded with no clear lines or definitions. Although it has traces of the 90s’ grunge look to it, it is still polished enough to pair with tailored silhouettes like trousers and dresses.

Spring Summer 2016 collections featured designers playing more with the colours and stylization of the plaid outfits. The most defining way in which it appeared on the runways was in the form of plaid trousers. Restricted to shirts and skirts until now, this season saw the pattern venturing into the pants section. It appeared on cropped wide pants which really stole the show. Models sashayed on the runways in sleeveless ankle length dresses featuring bold plaid prints and dramatic plunging necklines. A lot of our favorite Bollywood sweeties like Sonam Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have been spotted wearing this trend with great elan.
