With the huge turnout at this year’s Festival de Cannes, it was bound to be a great success. Awards and charity functions are a great podium for the fashion designers\houses to showcase their most precious designer outfits to the whole world. Not that they need to do it as they are already big names and their collections are often spotted on different celebrities regularly.
Today in Designer Diary we talk about Zuhair Murad, who was a big hit in this year’s Festival de Cannes. His gorgeous creations were worn by some of the most well-known faces of the west as well as east.
“I don’t recall a day in my life without a pen in my hand!” said Zuhair. He grew up in Baalbek in Lebanon and since his childhood he has always dreamt of escaping to a world of fantasy.
Zuhair took to sketching very early in life, at the age of ten. In 1997 Murad opened his first atelier in Beriut and then accelerated upwards pretty fast. In 1999 he celebrated his international debut at the Alta Roma Fashion Week and followed it with his couture collection for the very first time during Haute Couture Week in Paris in 2001, which saw him gaining huge momentum with international media.
His creations are simple yet aesthetically glamorous and contemporary. Murad’s bridal collection is couture bridal designs at its best. What makes his dresses stand out is the fact that they are the quintessence of feminine sophistication. The cuts are classic yet sexy which brings out the best of the person who wears it. His signature gowns are impeccably designed with its ultra-romantic voluminous skirts, sheer sheaths and rich lace overlays which make the outfits ethereal and dreamlike.
Known as the designer darling of the stars, Murad débuted his first Ready-to-Wear Collection back in the year 2005.
His Parisian “Maison de Couture” in the heart of the Triangle d’Or on François 1er Street was inaugurated in 2007.
The luxurious designer hopes that his creations can become accessible to all who desire them in the world and that one day any lady can walk into a store in any city and find the perfect dress.
Well, we all hope that his hope does come true someday, as all the women in the world would love to have a piece of Zuhair Murad creation hanging in their wardrobe.
