Beauty Tips…
So very recently I came upon a survey conducted by Huffinton Post titled ‘How many beauty and grooming products do you use on a daily basis?’ This made me look in my own bathroom to see how many products I had stacked and to my surprise there was just a ‘kohl’ because I seriously don’t consider body-wash, facial cream and chap stick as exclusive women grooming products anymore as they are also used by men these days.
And even if one does stack a variety of exclusive women grooming products with them, with such a hectic schedule where does one get time to really spare few minutes, forget the hours needed to groom themselves properly every day? Jeez, I even had to learn how to do my upper lip by myself because I had no time or energy to visit the parlor or call a beautician home after a tiring day. By the end of the month we usually end up feeling like a cranky monster with dead skin all over and so a visit to the beauty parlor once a month becomes absolutely must for most of us.
But how does one get the most out of this visit to this paradise reincarnate for women (where one can just sit-back relax and enjoy a few relaxing hours of uninterrupted unapologetic and totally selfish heavenly bliss)? Soul gets its Sistas exclusive tips to get groomed in less than 3 hours.
So what grooming regimen should we opt for when we do our impending beauty parlor visit?
– Firstly narrow down which is the best beauty parlor around your vicinity. Seriously you wouldn’t want to opt for the ones which are far off and waste your time travelling all the way to the parlor. Instead use the time on your beauty relaxation.
– Book yourself an appointment which would include services like Threading, Oil Head Massage, Shampoo, Pedicure, Manicure and Waxing (if you have to). Tell them you would like to do all of it simultaneously so that they would keep two beauticians reserved for you.
– Never choose what kind of head massage or pedicure you would like to have. Always go in the parlor ask them to provide you their service menu and then decide which all you want to go for. Some of the parlors have ridiculously expensive treatments and services which are no different from the standard ones except for some minor addition like aroma oil or French pedicure (in which only polishing your nail tips are different) and you end up paying a lot extra.
– Once you have decided which all services you want, start with Threading and then the Head Oil Massage or what we fondly call The Indian Champi.
– Apart from relaxation there are many other benefits of a good head oil massage. Like for example, massaging the head with the finger tips increases the blood flow to the brain. The gentle touch to the scalp also helps in releasing certain hormones which instantly lifts one’s mood not to mention stimulating hair growth and strengthening them.
– After the Head Oil Massage, always go for Hair Steaming (they are usually included in the Head Oil Massage package). The benefits of steaming are that it: creates a humid environment which keeps the hair bouncy and soft, removes the dead skin and cleans the scalp, and last but not the least, increases the flow of natural oils which our scalp produces, thus improving the hair texture and resulting in hair growth.
– Once the steaming is done go for your Pedicure or Manicure (whichever you have chosen). It takes about 25 to 45 minutes (depending on what type you have opted for) for the beautician to give you your soft and tender hands and/or feet back.
– Always go for the After Massage once the Pedicure is done. The beauticians know acupressure and the technique really takes away the aches in your foot which gets bottled up after the strutting about every day.
– If you opted for both Pedicure and Manicure then you can request them to do it simultaneously which will save time.
– Lastly once you are done with the grooming always get a head bath (shampoo) in the parlor itself. Believe me it is very relaxing to just sit back on a chair with someone else doing the shampoo. The way they rub the oil off our head is something which we really can’t do on our own.
– Once the shampoo is done, they blow dry your hair making you feel lustrous and lively once again. And a blow dried hair always looks good at work the next day.
– All this grooming therapy will set you back by about ₹ 1200 to ₹ 3000 but will be worth every penny and getting it done once a month really won’t make a hole in your pocket.
SOUL tip – if you are music lover, take your favorite songs in an usb stick and request the manager to play the songs for you. They just might oblige, making your session more personal and relaxing.
