So we have had a lot of Hollywood celebrities ranging from the original material girl, Madonna, to the most (un)hated singing sensation, Justin Bieber, to the global socialite, diva Paris Hilton, penning down books either about thyself or a fictitious some other-self. But very rarely we find Indian Celebs walking down the same path. And even in the few rare cases that they do, the books are usually so deep and/or so serious that we really have to set some time aside from our busy schedule and also be in the right mood for the somber and reflective undertaking.
Most Indians would love to read a book penned by the superstar of Bollywood, Mr. Amitabh Bachan, but he has very famously said that he was incapable of writing a book. We have also read a while back that SRK (who fondly likes to think himself as the king khan) has a book somewhere in the process of being written. Another Bollywood belle we would love to read is Queen Kangana Ranaut, who loves reading books and has recently written a period film. Seeing her sometimes naive yet excellent comic timing, we bet it would be one cracker of a book, rib-tickling the readers all throughout.
But while we wait for the Queen Bee to come out with her book, we have another twinkling Bollywood dame who did, in fact, just launch her book (filled with hilarious semi-fictional anecdotes) recently. Twinkle Khanna, a.k.a. Mrs. Khiladi, who is famous for her funny one liners and for taking a sarcastic yet witty dig at almost everyone\thing, recently launched her debut book ‘Mrs. Funnybones’ amidst much Bollywood fanfare. Present at the event were a loyal star husband, a famous veteran mother, a classy-elitist film maker and a famous versatile actor. With so much glitterati present, the book release was bound to be a stylish affair with more than a pinch of wit and many blast-from-the-past funny narratives as the guests recalled entertaining anecdotes from their shared lives.
In her own words, Twinkle summarizes the book Mrs. Funnybones to be factual yet adequately fictionalized and states that it has emerged from “a few decaying brain cells and a couple of old bones” that she threw “into her brewing cauldron of words”. She has no qualms in describing the author (herself) to be a lazy, high strung celebrity wife and writer, whose jokes are a lot funnier than her own.
The book is like a personal diary where one keeps notes from their day-to-day activities. It describes her life as that of any other ordinary married woman, who has a typical (son-obsessed) mother-in-law, a prodigal (mera beta sabse sundar aur hosiyar hein) son, a naughty but cute daughter, and of course, the man of the house. She gives us glimpses of a celebrity wife who has to deal with the same problems as any other common woman worrying about weight gains, periods, wifi issues and running-around-the-mill making sure everyone in the family remains happy.
We wouldn’t dare disclose the finer details but rest assured the reader will close the book with a big smile and many newly-acquired one liners useful in their own lives. Our ex-Bollywood diva is ready to give some stiff competition to the likes of Hollywood Ellen’s hilarious ‘Seriously… I’m kidding’ book.
Have fun reading the book and humming “Twinkle, Twinkle, little star, I hope you get hit by a car”.
