Google has rolled out a new feature for the fashion enthusiasts and we just can’t have enough of it! This new update called ‘style ideas’ will be available in the image search section of google. This will enable the shopper to understand how particular merchandise will look when paired with other items. This means that when one searches for particular sunglasses or a bag, the new google search tool would not just show a horde of similar items, but would also display the bunch of items in use. If you want to see how your favourite pair of shoes would look when coordinated with certain outfits, then this google search tool proves to be a saviour. ‘Style Ideas’ shares a resemblance with the ‘Similar Items’ section that provides links to other items when looking at a product, which is more like Google shopping.
This is a smart move by Google considering its poor performance in the category of “product search” in spite of being the frontrunner in general search category. A survey conducted by e-commerce start-up BloomReach has found that about 55 per cent of US online customers prefer Amazon. The percentage of online shoppers that use online search engines like Google has seen a sharp decline from 34 per cent to 28 per cent in recent times. Hence, this strategic move by Google is not just to ward off competition from Amazon, but also Pinterest which enables the consumer to select an item and search similar images based on Pinterest’s image recognition software.
This new google search tool will be beneficial for fashionistas and those looking for some fashion inspiration as it will make researching on fashion easier and help open up ideas on how to weave up different looks to stay on top of the style game! So, why the delay, time to get searching all you fashionistas!
