The 74th Annual Primetime Golden Globe Awards just concluded and we finally got to witness the much awaited Fashion at the Golden Globes Red Carpet event! So it’s now time to review the fashion choices of some of the influential actresses of the world and present their fashion report card!
Held annually, the Golden Globes celebrates the best of talents in movies and television. Like every year, it set the tone for the red carpet fashion for the upcoming award season. From weaving fairytales with dreamy romantic silhouettes to going overboard with bridal wear and the classic black to the yummy palette of pinks, this year’s Golden Globes remained in news for its fashion statements as well as awards! So let’s have a glance at who wore what, hits and misses and our favourite fashion moments at this year’s Golden Globes Red Carpet:
Sarah Jessica Parker – The actress of Sex and the City fame revisited her character Carrie Bradshaw and donned a Vera Wang cold-shoulder plunging white gown from the designer’s 2017 bridal wear line. Her Carrie Bradshaw moment on red carpet sent us on a rewind mode when her character strutted in a similar Vivienne Westwood bridal gown for her wedding day! This is certainly one of the most talked about fashion moments from this year’s Golden Globe, however, I am not so impressed with the choice of a bridal wear for awards night!
Fairytale at the Golden Globe – Both Lily Collins and Felicity Jones treaded the soft romantic and ultra-feminine route on the Golden Globes Red Carpet this year. Lily Collins, daughter of legendary British rocker Phil Collins channeled a modern-day princess in an elaborate, rose embroidered dusty pink Zuhair Muraid gown and finished off the look in a sleek updo and vamp inspired make-up that seamlessly blended with the princess vibes. Felicity Jones charmed us in her nude bodice intelligently coordinated with a pink skirt. Fresh and natural make-up brought her fairytale moment to a fuller circle. We loved it ladies!
The Pink Squad – The Paris Fashion Week S/S 2017 forecasted about pink being big this season and the red carpet bore testimony to the pink fever! Lily Collins and Felicity Jones to Zoe Saldana, all walked the pink trend. I particularly loved how the Pirates of the Carribean star Zoe Saldana worked so many trends of the season to perfection in her romantic pink-red combination by teaming up a floor-length Gucci gown with an asymmetrical tiered skirt. However, the icing on the cake was the blush satin bow that accentuated her super slim waist!
The Black brigade – The safety net colour, black, ruled the red carpet as always! From the Golden Globe winner, Amy Adams to Blake Lively of Gossip Girl fame and Evan Rachel Wood who channeled androgyny in a custom-made Altuzarra all shone bright as diamonds in their black ensembles.
Desi swag at the Golden Globe – Bollywood ‘it’ girls and besties Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone made their spiffy red carpet appearances and garnered global attention. However, there’s nothing much to write home about PC’s red carpet look except her flawless make-up. Deepika Padukone who was spotted at the after-party in a canary yellow Zuhair Muraid gown fared better.
Moms-to-be at the Red Carpet – Gal Gadot and Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman were our best-dressed moms-to-be at the red carpet. While Portman zeroed in on the tested route with a shapeless yellow-green maxi dress with a boat neckline and three-quarter sleeves exuding every bit of elegance as her screen character Jaqueline Kennedy, it was a fitted Mugler gown for Gal Gadot that proudly showed her baby bump.
Best Dressed – We have three winners for the best dressed category and they are Emma Stone looking a million bucks in her star appliqué Valentino Haute Couture, Michelle Williams who ticked all the fashion trends of 2016 – lace, choker, the off-shoulder, and Ruth Negga who looked sassy in a custom-tailored Nicholas Ghesquiere futuristic silver gown.
Disappointed – I am rather aghast with the fashion choices of Nicole Kidman and Olivia Culpo for at this year’s Golden Globes red carpet! Better luck next time ladies.
We would love to know whose styles you liked and who didn’t quite meet your expectations! Do let us know in the comments.
