Festival de Cannes 2015!

About a week back, French Riviera was all swamped-up with celebrities and stars from all across the globe. From Hollywood to Bollywood, all of the most celebrated models and actors made their presence conspicuous by turning up in some of the most grand and breath-taking outfits at the 68th Cannes 2015 film festival. With an array of designer dresses displayed on some of the most envied hour glass figures, the fashion-o-meter was bound to go up.

Zuhair Murad, Atelier Versace, Oscar de la Renta, Armani Privé & Elie Saab were some of the designers whose dresses were extraordinaire and they seemed to be a favorite with many celebrities.

Before we start talking about how gorgeous the ladies of the west looked, let’s talk a bit about our home queens: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (‘Queen of Bollywood’ as said by France24) and Sonam Kapoor.

Ash, who donned many different looks for the festival, looked drop-dread gorgeous in the stunning Oscar de la Renta flamenco-style gown which she had paired with a gold bracelet, simple ruby colored earrings, a ring or 2, luscious ruby lips and wavy hair. She looked every inch as breathtaking as the view of the French Riviera from the yacht. While she brought elegance to the red carpet, the actress went for a more chic yet subdued look in white off the carpet. The former beauty queen wore Stella McCartney separates – white blouse with matching cigarette pants and heels, for photo ops and interviews. The cherry red lip color (seemed her favorite for the whole festival) was a beautiful contrast.
For another press meet she wore a buttoned up collar blouse with printed palazzos, also by Stella McCartney, which we thought was very chic et élégant. Ash who is a regular at the Cannes festival was there to promote her upcoming movie ‘Jazbaa’.

Another festival regular, our desi style icon Sonam Kapoor, made a ravishing entry on the red carpet in a blue Ralph & Russo Couture gown at the screening of the film ‘The Sea of Trees’. Later she turned up in the sorbet colored and feathered Elie Saab couture outfit. Later in the day, Sonam Kapoor was seen wearing a fascinating “Butterfly” couture by designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Known for dressing differently and boldly on occasions (remember her Anamika Khanna Couture- a white lace sari and the pearl nath in 2013?), Sonam looked as sassy as ever.

Another Bollywood beauty to turn heads at Cannes was Katrina Kaif, who made her debut appearance at the film festival this year wearing a stunning red lace belted Elie Saab evening gown which complimented her tall and slender figure. She was also spotted wearing a monochrome ensemble consisting of a black and white paneled blouse paired with a white layered skirt by Milly.

With our desi brigade so high on fashion meter, the Holly’s were not very far behind. Some of the most gorgeous dresses worn by the celebs were Izabel Goulart who wore a dress by Zuhair Murad, Emily Blunt in her very refreshing brightly patterned Peter Pilotto shift, Lupita Nyong’o’s green colored Gucci gown, Cate Blanchett’s Giorgio Armani Privé, Petra Nemcova’s Zuhair Murad Couture spring/summer 2015 gown, Kendall Jenner’s outfit by Alaïa, and Lily Donaldso’s gown by Saint Laurent.
