Just when you thought that the street stylists have run out of ideas and there is nothing new that can catch their fancy and that of the fashion gurus, comes the trend that is either outright bizarre or exceedingly cool, depending upon how you see it. Yes, I am talking about the case of wearing your button-downs backwards.
First seen in the Milan Fashion Week and then at Lakme Fashion Week closer home, this trend is an interesting way to style your regular shirts in a totally different way. The trend, which is inspired from the early 90s’ rappers Kriss Kross, has taken over the fashion scene right now and all our favorite celebrities and fashion bloggers have picked up this trend. Instagram is full of celebrities and fashion bloggers flaunting their bare backs in this trend.
Yes, the thought of wearing your shirt backwards may seem more of a faux paus than a trend but this is not as hard and as wacky as it seems. If you think you can rock this trend, by all means go for it. All you need is a slightly oversized shirt (‘His’ shirt will also do!) and oodles of confidence.
There is no correct way to wear this trend. Most of the Instagrammers that you see are choosing to keep the starting few buttons undone and tuck the shirt in the denim. But this trend can be styled in a million different ways. Here are some tips:
-
Team up a front knotted white shirt worn backwards with black denims or jeggings to get a casual yet sexy look.
-
Why restrict this to just shirts? Wear your favourite shirt dress backwards to give it a new twist!
-
Try this trend with a skirt of the same colour for a monochrome look.
-
Wear a pendant when trying this trend and let the pendant dangle at the back to give your back an extra oomph factor!
-
Alternatively, you can accessorize the front with a statement necklace.
A tricky look to carry for sure, all this look needs is the air od someone knowing what they are doing. Let us know if you will try this trend in this comments down below!
