Spring is here and there is no colour more appropriate than yellow for the season as it embodies the spirit of the spring season. And so, it is only fitting that one of the top spring 2017 trends is the rise of this vibrant colour on the fashion charts.
Considered an unexpected colour for the most part, hues of yellow ranging from pastels and lemons to mustards dominated the runway this season. From flowy dresses in buttercup yellow to structured jackets in lemon yellow, there was nothing that escaped the colour. This sunny shade featured in the collections of all the major designers right from Gucci to Chloe. Simone Roche had flowers in this colour embroidered on sheer fabrics like organza and tulle. Chloe had a ton of stunning options in mustard – from ruffled dresses to pleated separates. Jason Wu launched polished sportswear in highlighter yellow that turned heads.
Although traditionally considered very hard to pull off as it tends to wash out the skin, the colour now comes in several shades to suit a variety of skin tones. For lighter skin tones, candy pastel works really well as do shades of amber and mustard. For medium to olive skin tones, sunshine yellow looks wonderful, while dark skin tones can rock all the shades of the colour without a worry. Bohemian sundresses in pale yellows are very spring appropriate. If you have a streak for adventure, you can rock a lemon jacket to take your style to the next level. If you are not confident enough to carry off an entire outfit in this flashy colour, adding a bright yellow handbag or shoes can amp up your fashion game too.
