The use of the camouflage print has been controversial. It was initially worn exclusively by personnel of the armed forces as part of their uniform to avoid being spotted or observed by the enemy. The earthy tones of green, brown and beige blend into the surroundings of the war zones much like a chameleon. However, it didn’t take long for this print to trickle down into the fashion world and be worn by civilians as an item of style. This has not fared well with the Governments of certain countries since it becomes difficult to distinguish between military and non-military personnel. Some have gone ahead and outrightly banned the wearing and even possession of the camouflage by civilians including tourists and children. So if you are planning your vacation to countries such as Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, Nigeria, Oman, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, St Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Zambia or Zimbabwe, make sure to not include any item of clothing with this print on it which packing or else you might face legal consequences.
