Doctor turned Designer of unconventional Jewellery, Lara Morakhia believes jewelry is meant to enjoy, not flaunt. Fusing together elements from vintage and contemporary, marrying gold and silver with pearls and polki, she creates pieces that create a statement and secret treasures. A self-taught designer, Lara draws inspiration from her vast personal collection of vintage jewelry, royal jewels, interesting and quirky objects including some that are not traditionally used as jewelry. Instead of working with pre-decided designs drawn on paper, she creates each piece intuitively, adding various elements to it to match the imagery in her mind.
Tavus is inspired by the glorious colors of a peacock’s plume, fanned out to attract a mate in monsoon; the magnetic charm of this sight and the inherent enjoyment in his dance; the relief and joy at the first drop of rain after a sweltering summer, the petrichor that engulfs you, and the happiness at the start of something new, these are the emotions that inspire Tavus.
