If you want to travel to the ancient Greece, the Chanel Resort 2018 Collection was the perfect way to get a glimpse of the ancient Grecian roots. Famous for organizing extravagant Resort fashion shows inspired by the exotic locations they are being held at, this year’s Chanel Resort collection took a break from its globe-trotting tradition and was held at its home location Paris.
Titled “La Modernité de l’Antiquité” or “The Modernity of Antiquity”, Karl Lagerfeld’s collection bought alive the ancient Greece from the past at the Grand Palais, the usual ready-to-wear show location.
Transformed into a picturesque replica of the Temple of Poseidon complete with magnificent seaside ruins and the painted backdrop of the Mediterranean sunset, the Grand Palais was replete with models wearing looks with draping, one-shouldered silhouettes, gold accents and ornamented headbands that gave the ultimate Greek goddesses vibes.
The looks also featured red-and-black-figure-painted pottery motifs done on column dresses. The stars of the collection were the Ionic column–heeled gladiator sandals in bright colours that gave the ancient Greek looks a modern touch. Lagerfeld ended the show by taking his bow with his youngest model, Hudson Kroenig.
Did you fall in love with the Grecian vibes too? Are you looking forward to add the colorful gladiator sandals to your wardrobe? Let us know!
