The third day of the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2017 turned out to be a blast with so many designers displaying their wonderful creations that it left the audience enraptured. From celebrity showstoppers to quirky styling, the whole day was a treat to the eyes.
The day opened with Karishma Shahani Khan’s collection of flowy ensembles in vibrant colours that would brighten any dreary winter day. Called ‘KASHA’, the collection had multi-paneled dresses, patchwork separates and reversible jackets, adorned in bold patterns. And to instill a playfulness in the designs, the models walked the ramp in colorful sneakers.
In contrast, Siddarth Tytler’s line-up “Metamorphosis of the Macabre” was everything dark and beautiful that you would want to see on a ramp. Taking a cue from the after-life, the fabrics of choice were velvet neoprene, lycra georgettes, and embroidered sheets with detailing done using metal hardware and laser cutting, which exuded elegance. The models flaunted heavily embellished masks designed by the famous accessory designer Diego Montoya for the show.
‘Charukesha’ by designer Ashima Leena was as monumental as the ancient architectural cities it took its inspiration from as it combined with modern ideas to create a collection that had delicately sculptured skirts, quaint pashmina blouses, tribal gilets, asymmetric kurtas and deftly composed sarees in juxtaposition with metal details and luxe stone embellishments.
Anju Modi’s “Neelambar” added the regal touch to the day with a monochromatic ethnic wear collection that had the audience spell-bound. Influenced by architectural detailings, models flaunted traditional pleated lehenga skirts, floor grazing gowns and capes, velvet cholis and sheer asymmetrical jackets in hues of ivory, gold, purple and dark blue. Showstopper Sakshi Tanwar carried an ivory gold outfit to end of the show with finesse.
Perfect for a destination wedding, the Delhi designer duo Shivan & Narresh launched ‘The Egon Series’ that had intricate detailings done on a textured surface to create a look that is flamboyant and elegant. Visually- appealing printed saris, cut-out swimsuits, skirts and jumpsuits with a flowy look and a billowing cape made for a very interesting collection.
‘Nomad’ by Malini Ramani was a bold take on tribal fashion with gorgeous pre-stitched saris, embroidered capes, sheer bodycon dresses, tie-and- dye cape gowns and kaftans, with metallic accents that amped up the glamour quotient.
Titled ‘The Cubist Rose’, Wendell Rodricks brought the different interpretations of a rose to the forefront with a collection that boasted of everything from flowy gowns, color-blocked slit dresses, innovatively draped saris with metallic cutout blouses, gorgeous ruffles and sheer asymmetrical beauty in vibrant shades of reds, oranges, pinks and teal green.
Thigh-high slit gowns in black, embellished pantsuits and sparkling jumpsuits with sporty separates left the audience stunned Alia Bhatt took everyone’s breath away in a gorgeous sequined emerald gown.
