Prison Hostel - The Hostel Crowd!

Being India’s first party hostel, this place is 500m from the Anjuna flea market and 50km from the Dabolim Airport that caters good shelter, wonderful company and an endless supply of beer. Apart from the jail replicated bars themed with black and white décor which makes the setting look idiosyncratic, you get to take your own mugshot at check-in counter. The art work which is well coordinated with the entire theme gives an extra edge to the place and makes it look even more fascinating.

The USP for this place is an old bus which has been recently renovated into a bar that offers you the most refreshing cocktails and smoothies. This bar at prison hostel is a mini club with funky lights and loud music of best tracks which makes you put your dancing shoes on and add to the madness. But once the in-house bar shuts, there is no scope of disappointment as prison hostel provides you a shuttle service, which takes you to the best parties in Goa (eg. Shiva Valley on Tuesdays, Club Cubana on Wednesdays and so on).
To kick in, socializing of guests, pub quizzes are organized by the hostel and the winners are awarded with free alcohol. Only if our government encouraged such incentives in real prisons, we wouldn’t have criminals escaping from jail.

They also offer rental scooters on which you can explore Ashvem, Mandrem, Arambol, and other beaches of North Goa. In the midst of all the fun, relaxation and Rejuvenation is also catered for by this hostel. They have created spaces for peaceful and cozy hang outs with your friends. They provide perfect dorms for anyone who wants to meet new people and also keep it pocket friendly. Although there are private twin and single rooms available for guests who are not comfortable with a shared setting. The rooms are neat and white along with having a great ventilation. Stepping aside from the theme, this place has a very unlike prison styled kitchen offering you classic breakfast that pleases your taste buds in the package. There is wifi and a computer zone for guests enabling them to travel light, along with an in-house ATM service. Prison Hostel provides a culmination of adventure, party, shopping, food and relaxation. Along with exploring yourself, you also gain an opportunity to meet strangers and turn them into friends for life.

Soul had an opportunity to speak to Mr. Joshua Noronha, the owner of Prison Hostel and he gave us an insight into one of the best destinations which should be on the priority of our bucket list.

Mr. Noronha- “Prison is India’s first party hostel situated in the heart of Anjuna, the place where Goa’s craziest parties take place! It’s part of ‘the hostel crowd’. We went with the Prison theme for our hostel in Anjuna because we wanted a quirky themed hostel where backpackers party all night long and then lock themselves up (as though in a Prison) during the day until it’s night when they can party again. All guests get their mugshot taken when they check-in and the theme continues with a Prison styled (but not Prison tasting) breakfast served across the bars and other subtle touches in the form of Prison lamps, grills, barbed wire on the boundary wall, a pay phone, etc. in various parts of the hostel.
