Los Angeles was an amazing host for the launch of Moschino’s 2017 launch of men’s Spring 2017 and women’s Resort 2017 collection as the city witnessed a burst of colors and a throng of celebrities heading there for the runway show. The adopted city of the show’s creative director Jeremy Scott, L.A hosted the event as a part of the first Made Los Angeles, a two-day fashion event by the people behind Made Fashion Week.
Jeremy Scott, known as the King Of Kitsch, lit up the L.A fashion scene with his absolutely bold and bright collection. “I just wanted to make something fun,” Scott said backstage, before the show, “something a little theatrical, something colorful, and upbeat, and bright, that my SoulCycle instructor, and neighbors, and the pop stars who I adore, who are also my neighbors, could come and see together.” Well, he succeeded spectacularly.
The collection was an ode to the psychedelic 60s, with Jeremy’s personal principle ‘more is more’ thrown liberally to the mix. The stage was a riot of bright, neon colours and kaleidoscopic prints done on fun textures and patchworks, with models strutting on the runway in floral flared pants and mid-riff baring corset tops. Vibrant colours and bold prints characterized the show with hand-done ethnic embroidery and embellishments making a dominant presence too. A little bit of India was on show as models flaunted dresses and separates done intricately with mirror work and patchwork, distinctive of Rajasthan. Funky jewelry and floppy sun hats were almost part of every look showcased.
The show boasted of an all-star model cast with Miranda Kerr as the opening act in a figure-hugging psychedelic short dress worn with a cropped bomber jacket. Anna Cleveland, the fall 2016 star, took to the stage in a neon-silk orange kaftan dress embellished with extra pairs of hands printed on it, an ode to the Ashtha-Bhuja, the eight-handed Indian goddess. Other celebrities who walked the ramp included the likes of Hailey Baldwin, Alessandra Ambrosio, Stella Maxwell, and Martha Hunt while Kate Perry supported her BFF from the front row.
