Saucy JLo @Golden Globes

Golden Globes marked the beginning of the many upcoming coveted award shows and events lined up for 2016. The glittering night was an instant success with most of the celebs putting their best foot forward. If the grapevines are to be believed, it is said that it costs over $40k just to get an actress ‘Golden Globes ready’. From their dress to their hair, makeup, nails and jewellery, after so much investment and hard work put behind dressing them up stands the fashion police ready to pounce on them the moment they step out. While some are an instant hit, others bear the full brunt of the fashion police ridicule.

JLo at the Golden Globes this year had a similar experience to that of Rihana last year @ the Met Gala 2015. While the latter had the twitter world abuzz with memes making fun of her for turning up like an omelet, JLo this year was accused of looking like a bottle of mustard sauce.

Last year we saw JLo in a caped look, but more specifically an “art deco inspired beaded sheer caftan” created by her close friend Zuhair Murad. And the look had all the makings of a Lopez special — tons of crystals, a low-cut décolletage-enhancing neckline and allover sheer fabric. However, this year we saw her dressed in canary yellow gown which was teamed with deep burgundy red nails and lipstick. The Latina bombshell oozed of sultry sophistication in her caped Giambattista Valli‎ gown with figure-hugging thigh-high slit, glittering Jimmy Choo shoes, a Judith Leiber Couture crystal herringbone clutch and over 200 carats of Harry Winston Diamonds (including a 46.95-carat Diamond wreath necklace).

It takes guts to try out something new every now and then, and we all know JLo is one such woman who won’t back down from trying something different. And while the fashion police might not agree with us, but we at SOUL thought that JLo’s look at the Globes was as lovely as ever and suited her to a T.
