Wedding done in a garden!

Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara attained a cult status for our generation. Right from the bonding among friends to the coming-of-age of each protagonist through the conquest of fear. The movie can be watched and re-watched again and again for the sheer magic it weaved onscreen. But as a worshipper of aesthetics, I loved the ending with the garden wedding as a backdrop!

Amidst the cacophony of theme weddings and swish wedding venues, a garden wedding is a breath of fresh air both literally as well as metaphorically. The outdoor space brimming with greenery and serenity allows the guests to move around and savour the nature. It also allows the bride and groom to immerse in a magical wedding experience.

Apart from the wedding you can plan your sangeet, mehendi, cocktail dinner or an intimate engagement party in a garden. All you need is a sprawling garden venue to give wings to your dream. It is very important to rope in the right wedding planner so that you can sit back and relax. But in case you are someone who is in seek of some fabulous wedding decor ideas then you have halted at the right page!

Unlike mainstream wedding venues, an outdoor space like garden lifts off the idea of an enclosed space, and we get the chance to go creative in playing up with the space.

Let’s talk about the altar first. The altar is an area where the bride and groom are about to tie the knot and hence this is the most important part. Let a contrast of yellow and tangerine marigold burst in the background of green, culminating to a colour palette exuding untainted auspiciousness. Use yellow rose petals to create a one-of-a-kind aisle. Don’t shy away from going the grandiose route. Choose an opulent chandelier that syncs with the altar decor.

In case of an engagement party adopt understated elegance. You can create a temporary wooden doorway to lead the guests towards the sitting area. Decorate the doorway with silk boutonnieres made of silk hydrangeas, silk tulips, cherry blossoms, peonies or silk roses. Coloured chalks can be deployed on the wooden door for scribbling the names of the protagonists of the wedding for the quirky touch. Otherwise select two branches and place them in parallel to each other to create the impression of an archway. Embellish the branches with yellow rose flower arrangement and hanging glass bubbles.

For a cocktail dinner, suspend hanging lights in jars or decorative bird cages hugged with pink peonies on the branches of a tree or an arch. Let the gleaming fairy lights curl up the poles of the arch and get ready to be swept off your feet by its enchanting effect!

It’s also important to focus on the seating area from where the guests are to witness the magic unfold and gossip their way to merry! Make their experience worthwhile by clothing the chairs and tables in a combination of white and mauve. Don’t keep the chairs bare and instead deck it up with an elegant flower bouquets at its back! For the table you can go for deconstructed vases boasting of purple orchids and calla lilies in case of a white themed table decor or hydrangeas and anemones for purple themed tables. No don’t just stop at that. Candles in glass candle holders and gel candles would add the right amount of flair and finishing touch. For the ones who swear my maximalism incorporate a train of white and blush flower arrangement on the table that would run till the floor!

Why not bestow your guests with a souvenir? Use mini vases done up in ribbon or a rosette with an orchid and a unique gift tag and present them to your guests as a thank you gesture for being a part of your special day.
